„Topics and decisions in public economics are an essential part of our daily lives – sometimes consciously, sometimes unconsciously. Government actors and institutions influence individuals, businesses, and regions in various ways and must consider the heterogeneity of the recipients and their reactions. What factors influence these inequalities, how significant are the differences, and what can we do about them? These questions, especially against the backdrop of regional heterogeneity, interest me, and through empirical research I aim to find answers.”

Philip Mielcarek has been a doctoral student and research assistant at the Chair of Public Economics at the University of Hohenheim since May 2024. He previously worked as a student and research assistant at the Chair. His research interests focus on taxation and tax enforcement.
